Overview
Yoga as widely practiced today is asana-heavy - there is hardly emphasis on breathing, awareness and meditation. But yoga is 8 Limbs - not just asana. My classes are designed to incorporate the other elements of yoga for a comprehensive and progressive practice. A 90-min session includes part-explanation (because it is important for students to know what they are doing and why), asana, pranayama, kumbhaka, bandha, mudra, mantra and meditation.

Classes Offered

Yoga is comprehensive and have far-reaching influence on the body, mind and well-being. In theory, there is no illness yoga cannot cure. My 22 years of practice have allowed me to explore these avenues by incorporating other disciplines to provide a specific benefit. The classes below are just a minor sampling of how yoga can be taken as a holistic wellness enhancement as well as spiritual upliftment.

  1. Tradition asana - this is what most studios offer. But my class will add elements of breath, awareness, visualization, meditation, etc.
  2. Vision therapy - yes, yoga has specific protocols to improve eyesight. This class is fusioned with established scientific approaches to better vision as well
  3. Weigth loss - this class is a fusion of HIIT (high intensity interval training) coupled with pranayama
  4. Muscle mass and definition - this class is a fusion of calisthenics (using body-weight for resistance training) coupled with pranayama
  5. Core development - the core is a load-bearing structure and must be kept strong for maximum payload
  6. Meditation - no physical workout, just mindful focus of the mind for stillness, equanimity and clarity
  7. Lecture - no physical workout, but simply a lecture for deeper conceptual grounding in the practice. The lecture can be focused on the 8 Limbs (or any of the 8 limbs), chakras (energy hubs), shat kriyas (purification), bandha (energy locks), mudra (energy seals), pranayama (breath control), etc.
  8. Pranayama Mash-up - pranayama-focused class with asana being a mash-up of traditional yoga, HIIT, calisthenics, aditthana, isometrics, and core strengthening
  9. Forever Young - no, it's not about immortality, but yoga has protocols designed to reverse or slow-down the aging process. It requires pranayama, kumbhaka, bandha, mudra, inversions, etc.
  10. Customized - for specific issues/concerns

To Schedule a Class

  1. Sign-up - include type of yoga, day, time, location, questions, etc.

Yoga with Jason

(Nov 23, 2022) Jason is one of the strongest yoga teachers in Cebu. We had been doing yoga together since 2013, having Veer as our teacher and doing our teaching rounds with Cebu's yoga studios. It is flattering and validating that he would ask me to conduct a yoga class for him (and pay for it). I now have to develop an extreme sequence commensurate to his level without killing me first...more »»

More on Cebu City:

About Cebu City
  • Cebu City is the 2nd biggest city in the Philippine (next to Manila) - and it continues to build and expand. Traffic is getting bad. Decentralization is being developed with the SM Super Mall in the SRP south and the suburban towns in the north.
  • Boat from the airport to the city center - even without traffic, it takes about 4 rides to reach the city. But with Cebu's increasing traffic congestion, it has become a nightmare. Instead of taking the land route, take the water route - no traffic, fresher air and cheaper. From the airport, take the yellow multi-cab straight to the river port and take the ferry (there's only one destination) to the city. Take the 02B jeep and get off at UC near Jones - you're now on the city's main artery.
  • given its size and increasing congestion, Cebu really needs a mass railway system - something that is conspicuously lacking, but no one seems to complain about
  • Cebu is bursting at the seams on the yoga scene. There are about 20 yoga centers in the city - from yoga studios to gyms offering yoga and hotels jumping on the bandwagon
  • a trendy and safe place in Cebu where you can chillout for coffee and enjoy good eats would be at the Ayala Mall
  • there are other pocket-areas for trendy hangouts - Banila Town Center, Crossroads, Escario Plaza, La Vie, etc.
  • the tourist area where most of the budget hotels and restaurants are, are located within the Mango area, although it has a seedy belly feel. Kids may swarm on you pretending to be begging, but they could be picking your pocket or your backpack pockets - be careful
  • many pick-pockets in the Colon area - be careful
