Gentle Flow
This was my first yoga class at Now's Fitness. Being out of yoga for a few weeks, I'm just glad to start the program with a gentle flow - nothing to jar the system but something smooth and gentle to transition me back into yogic limber. The teacher was Nuch Ployrawee Amonlerdpisarn or Nuch for short! I would have wanted to arrive earlier to get to talk with her and warm-up the rapport, but I came just when the class started.
Thai Instruction
Nuch's yoga was in Thai! But in fairness, when she got a sense I wasn't Thai, she tried to squeeze-in as much English into her instruction as she could. I also looked around to see what the other practitioners were doing. What I miss however was the subtle instructions for those things you could not see - the breathing, the minute adjustment in body positioning like bandha or muscle engagement, etc. That cannot be helped. I have to learn Thai to have full benefits (not a bad idea).
Session Pace and Intensity
The session was slow-paced and methodical - indeed, developed to be a gentle flow to sink deeper into the pose and stretch-out those loins, muscles and connective tissues. It was held long enough to make the most out of the asana - not rushed before you get established into the pose and not too long that you agonize. It was cued just right.
Ending Thoughts
Gentle Flow yoga is essential specially to reboot the body back to equilibrium. This holds true specially to those who do weights, who run...or any type of workout routine. Stretching those muscles and connective tissues reverts the body back to 'factory setting' for that lightness of feeling. With Nuch's brand of yoga, she knows exactly how long to hold it and how far down to sink with it. Confidence is high with Ms. Nuch's class that you are with someone who knows what's she's doing.
Thank you very much for that wonderful class, Ms. Nuch.
