Abundance at On Nut, Bangkok

Location: Empo Hostel, On Nut neighborhood, Bangkok, Thailand

Empo Hostel at On Nut
Moving to Empo Hostel on the other end of Bangkok made a big positive difference. Even though it wasn't near a train station, it was just a short ride to the BTS train On Nut station. With its promo rate, it was a steal. The place was professionally run, had a/c rooms, card keys, wifi, chiller, hot water, laundry and working space for my laptop work. There is an endless array of eating places as soon as you walk out the door. Furthermore, I was able to do a barter deal - web services in exchange for lodging. The place felt good and the coming days looked optimistic. I was off to a good start.

On Nut Neighborhood
On Nut is generally the area where the On Nut BTS train station is. The energy of the neighborhood is far more alive than the one at Bang Wa (my previous hostel). They have several wet markets, Big C supermarket and eating stalls everywhere. From what I'd been reading, On Nut is an emergent go-to place for good food - with several positively-reviewed cheap eats. I can't agree more. Every where you look, there is food. Walking distance from my hostel is Magpie (bistro), Cycam (high-performance bike storw), W Cafe (quaint cafe), etc. I'm sure there's more to discover as I explore the neighborhood.

Now's Fitness and YogaNow's Fitness and Yoga
While walking around the neighborhood, I passed by a gym offering yoga among other things - Now's Fitness. I got to talk with its affable owner who is a fitness buff herself. It was good energy that felt right at the outset. We talked about many things that went a little beyond business. At the end of it, we came to terms that allowed me unlimited access to all its facilities and fitness offerings - yoga, Muay Thai, boxing, High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), etc. i might even teach a yoga class. With all its state-of-the-art equipment and amenities, I was a kid lost inside a toy store!!!

Chai MateoChai
One of Bangkok's attractions to me is my buddy from the UP Mountaineers, Chai. I'm not sure if we've climbed a mountain together with the org, but we've done yoga and free diving together. We never run out of things to talk about. She's cute as a button with smarts to go with her good looks. She's a recurring constant in my blogs as we seem to bump into each other a lot - Manila, Cebu, Chiang Mai and Bangkok.

Money Matters
Aside from the logo-money I just received, I made a little more to tide me through for another 2 months with some belt tightening. This is HUGE as far as my psychological well-being goes. For the first time in so many months, I don't have to think about money. It felt like the hanging ton of bricks on top of my head has been temporarily removed. I could breathe freely and more importantly, my mind stopped racing. It felt like a heavy cross I'd been lifting has been taken off my shoulder. I am immeasurably relived!

Money Perception
It is interesting that despite my transparency about money matters, no one still believes me. Yesterday, I was on an online conversation with a lady friend that went like this:

Friend: I think you are really well funded, since you can afford to be paying daily or short term monthly rates every single day of your many years living abroad! Only rich people can do that! 🙂
Me: ...exactly the sentiments of 99.9% of people who know me. Only one person believes me. LOL

Friend: Hehe im sure you have more than a hundred friends so that would be more than one person!
Me: Well, only one person saw my bank account as I let her do my online payment...and after being together intimately for the last 9 months, she said, "Oh Gigit! You really have no money!"

Friend: Hehe. Tell her that's not your only bank account. You have virtual accounts in the cloud. Plus energy exchange is happening abundantly for you.
Me: Energy exchange is my currency. But don't get me wrong....I'm not convincing you about my financial situation. I've stopped doing that a long time ago 🙂

Friend: I know what you mean bro! But only a few people really get it.

My realization is that if the lady I have gone out with for the last 9 months (we're not together anymore) did not believe me, then how much more of people who only know me from a distance? But is it really that incomprehensible for someone with very little money and no steady job to live a life of travel by surviving on his wits with a few core skills? But like I said, I no longer feel the need to explain myself.

Ending Thoughts
It's been only 3 days since I moved to On Nut but it made a world of difference to me. With all the struggle I had at the Bang Wa location and the sheer abundance raining down on me here at On Nut, I am drawn to conclude...rather, this validates again, my notion that when there is a struggle, it's the universe telling you something is wrong...that you do something about the situation. And most of the time, it's simply a matter of leaving the place to find that spot with your name on it. Of course, you can choose to stay and tough it out. But why fight City Hall when the universe is already telling you there's another place out there where bliss awaits you?
