I didn't know I already met May Bel back in 2014 during my last visit to Davao when Jackie invited me to join her yoga friends in a cafe. However, it's only during this visit that we talked at length when I had the pleasure to see her again and meet her lovely family.
Gathering of Friends
When I learned she's a yoga teacher, I couldn't resist the urge to invite myself to her class at Lounge One Yoga Studio in North Zen Hotel. While it was open to the public, it was more a gathering of her friends who are serious about their practice. They all knew each other and were there to support each other. It was a privilege to meet them.
Muscle Yoga?
Not surprisingly, I was the lone thorn amongst the roses - yoga doesn't seem to be catching up with the guys here, like most of Southeast Asia. Hmmm...maybe I should call my next class, Muscle Yoga or Ripped Yoga - it just might attract the testosterone types. I can develop a sequence that can tone and shape their bulk for that ripped look. I'll add that up in my to do list.
Lounge One Sequence
The sequence for the session was the studio signature, "Lounge One Sequence" - lots of hip and chest openers. The pace started slow but gained intensity with increasing difficulty. The movements were intelligently sequenced as they were elegant - weaving the asanas in an increasingly difficult meditative vinyasa. By the end part of it, we were doing a modified Supta Kurmasana as a peak pose - a first for me. I was soaked with my own sweat, but I had a surgical smile no one could wipe away.

Ending Thoughts
The last time I was wowed by a yoga sequence this graceful was in Bali while doing Pranawayu Yoga. Now in Davao, May Bel's 90-minute "Lounge One Sequence" takes the cake for elegance, flow and intensity.
