Reconnecting with Ginny
Ginny finished everything at the UN yesterday and has the whole day to herself. It was nice having a relaxed breakfast with her and resuming our leisurely tete-a-tete by the balcony overlooking the lake and the Jet d'eau.

Spring in Geneva
It has only been 11 days since I left Geneva but so much has changed. The weather was a lot warmer allowing people to go out in the sun. The park was full of sun worshippers. The swans were out in the lake and the leisure boats were out on the marina. A festive atmoshpere permeated the city.

Swiss Army knife
I headed to Cornavin to secure a few last minute items - Swiss Army knife, Absinthe, baguette and white wine for dinner. After traveling with Naomi, I've seen how indispensable a Swiss Army knife can be. Fortunately, I got a deal on the Swiss Champ model + case at SF75.00.

Absinthe
The Absinthe however was another issue. Apparently, it has only been legalized in the past year due to its high alcohol content and not every liquer store carry it. Being a holiday didn't help either since most stores were closed. A store keeper said he can get a 1-liter bottle in the underground for SF70.00 but may take a few days. Well, I leave first thing tomorrow. I'll just have to chance on its availability in Amsterdam.

Boat Tour
As a last-hurrah, I took the 1.25 hour boat ride around the lake (SF12.00) that took us to some of the most prestigious houses on the lake coast. It was ok...but not as impressive or awesome as the houses built on Canada's Kingston area.

Fondue
It was fitting to have fondue with Ginny as a last supper on my last day in Geneva. We used up as much of our leftovers as possible, making a salad putanesca.

Goodbye Geneva Traveling

Goodbye Geneva

(May 21, 2004) Because of luggage weight limit between countries and air carriers, I could no longer check in the same 2 bags that I had with me. I had to leave most of my things at the airport and simply do with a carry on. That was a shock. But the flight went well to Chipol Airport where Ginny and I awaited our flight for Manila....more »»
