Celebrating the International Day of Peace
(Sep 23, 2017) My Vipassana and Theosophical Society friend, Ludwig, invited me to celebrate the International Day of Peace at the University of Bohol with various community organizations who will be doing talks on what they do to foster peace and harmony. Hmmm...how do they do that?....more »»Coastal Cleanup with Plastic Free Bohol
(Sept 16, 2017) The coastal cleanup of Libaong Beach in Panglao as organized by Plastic Free Bohol yielded 73 sacks of garbage within a short strip of beach! There was a good turnout of eco-warriors for the 3 hour event. While not a long-term solution to the garbage problem, it was a much-needed shot-in-the-arm for the eco-system....more »»Judging a Student Debate at the University of Bohol
(Sept 15, 2017) I received an unexpected email from Kins from the University of Bohol, 'Do you want to be judge in a university debate?' Hmmm, I've judged a body building contest, beauty pageant and a street dance before, but a university debate? Sure!....more »»Fitness Workout with Chie at Bohol Tropics Resort
(Sept 13, 2017) It was a 3-hour mix of yoga, cardio vascular intervals, pranayama and meditation with mermaid coach and dive master, Chie, at Bohol Tropics Resort...more »»Modified Ashtanga Primary Series by Jing Yoga, Tagbilaran
(Sept 12, 2017) Ashtanga Yoga is considered the most athletic in the tradition of yoga. Even a modified version of Ashtanga remains challenging even to those who haven't done it in a while - me! With Geraldine fresh from her 40-day yoga journey in Bali, I was eager to attend her class and get a glimpse of what she has taken back with her.....more »»Tagbilaran Revisited
(Sep 7-12, 2017) After Cebu City, it could have been any destination - Coron for outdoor adventures with Greg, Tagbilaran for cheap movies, Davao for durian or even the Himalayas for Vipassana Meditation. But Jeanne secured a cheap room for me in Tagbilaran - and it was as simple as that. Besides, I somehow feel I have unfinished business in Tagbilaran...more »»5 Nights in Cebu City at Hostel Seven Cebu
(Sep 2-7, 2017) After Moalboal, I defaulted to Cebu City for a 5-night stay at the newly opened Hostel Seven Cebu. Strange, but after traveling non-stop for 5 years, it's only now I lost my bearings. Traveling doesn't excite me anymore and there is nothing else that excites me. What do I do now? Perhaps the 5 days will allow me to regain perspective on where to point my compass.....more »»Travel Parenting by Fritz Blackburn
(September 4, 2017) Fritz takes us on an insightful journey with parent's lenses on how to best prepare our kids for life (not just for travel). It's an engaging narrative full of mindful observation about how kids see the world around them and how we, as over-protective parents, tend to anaesthetize their experience by being too careful. Fritz has a tendency to say in 10 words what can be said in 4, but it helps underscore his point.....more »»Goodbye Moalboal
(Sep 2, 2017) After almost 2 months, I finally had to bid Moalboal goodbye. Life on the beach where the sardines run wild and free, where turtles are an integral part of the seascape and where diving is at its best finally came to a close. It has been a great run but it's time to hit the open road once more.....more »»
