John Cameron Mitchell
Wow...that movie just blew me away. I'll have to keep a copy for my own collection. John Cameron Mitchell (playing Hedwig) was simply brilliant breathing life into the character (he also wrote and directed).

Hedwig
The story goes around Hedwig, an internationally ignored glam-punk performer, who takes on a journey into the world of Rock and Roll fantasy in search of his other half...the one that will make him whole. The movie is poignant, moving, intense, electrifying, and the soundtrack is out of this world. Hedwig's angst-ridden journey took me to a realm of alienation and validation. He presented a whole slew of human emotional peaks and valleys that make him come out of the screen and speak to you.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch (2001)

The Rocky Horror Picture Show
This comes close to another classic rock movie, The Rocky Horror Picture Show...but with more dimension and more humanity into it.

Ending Thoughts
I must have listened to the soundtrack a zillion times. Hedwig (the character and no much the movie) lingers long after the movie is over. Like a Shakespeare play, it can be enjoyed on many metaphorical levels. Choose that which fits your understanding...I have.
