Toronto and France with Dad
An Invite for France
As a contract web designer for Chapters Online, Canada's then-largest online bookstore, I had money and I had time. I missed my Dad so much I invited him to take vacation with me to France. I'm glad he was convinced to say Yes.
Ending Thoughts
He really didn't want to make the trip. He had many apprehensions (he wasn't as strong as he used to be...unbeknownst to me), but he was persuaded finally to go. I'm not sure he enjoyed the trip - he only did it for me. He would have had a better time had we just gone to a familiar place where we could eat some Chinese chow mein and leisurely talk about 'life' stuff. Maybe, had we made that trip when he was much younger, he would have had a nicer time.
Still, I'm glad it happened - quality time with my Dad. I sorely missed him while I lived in Canada, and being with him again was a rebonding for both of us. Additionally, given what was to transpire after that bonding (I'm writing this 'Ending Thoughts' in Sep 2023), things were not the same anymore. If it didn't happen then, it could not happen anymore. So yes, it's something I'm thankful for.
