BACOLOD

Bacolod has always been known as the sugar capital of the Philippines. During its heyday, the sugar barons ruled like royalty. Sugar remains the prime commodity in Bacolod but 'royalty' has taken a back seat with the changing times - OFW migration, economically-challenged taking on the social media platforms for content-provider income, online commerce, and the city's bustling growth. Now, Bacolod is highly urbanized and the center of industry, commerce and urban indulgence in the Western Visayas.
