June 8, 2004 Tuesday First day of school My body was hurting too much from yesterday's workout. I just did light stretching and I was off to UP for my first day of school. Freshman jitters were at play. I passed by Fine Arts first to get the NSTP documents Ginny wanted me to get. I learned there was now the TOKI jeep which takes the IKOT route around UP but going the other way. Made sense to me. I chatted with Reena, a music student from Abelardo, while waiting for Mr. Marana, my Spanish class teacher. All my classmates were talking to me using 'ho' and 'po' despite my pleading not to...sigh! My salt-n-pepper hair is burying me alive. The teacher showed up late, got us to fill in the class cards, and was off for a meeting. He promised though to make up for the lost time. I wandered around to kill time. In my French class, we took turns introducing ourselves. I talked about wanting to learn the language to break down language barriers while traveling to Europe. I also asked them not to address me in 'po' or 'ho', in a self-deprecating way. They got a laugh at out of it but continued to address me with 'po'...oh well. I read the course outline, which was all too familiar to me already. I discussed the issue with the teacher who advised that I take up an advanced course, which I did. I was wandering around the campus, not knowing anyone and not having my own tambayan. It felt strange. I helped myself to street food as I walked around - taho, lumpia, shawarma, etc. Mitch On the way home, I stopped by a store in Katipunan to get a 1x1 picture for my TIN. I met Mitchiko (Mitch), a computer science student from Ateneo who recently graduated. Like most Ateneans I've met, she was intelligent and engaging. We had some shakes at Pancake house while waiting for our prints. It was a fun chat. Mia Back at the printing shop, I saw Mia, one of my classmates in the French class whom I thought was particularly attractive. We talked and she couldn't help herself from using 'po' again. She even mentioned that her mom and I could be in the same batch. Oh well....life continues. Later in the evening at home, when the bros and Gold were around, we just hung out and chilled for a chat. Comments?
