October 25, 2002 Friday Cuisine of India As Fridays would have it, me and my officemates go out to eat. For change, we chose Cuisine of India, an Indian buffet restaurant just north of McDonalds. Selectionwise, there wasn't much. Tastewise, it wasn't bad but it wasn't exceptional either, except for their naan bread (but I haven't had naan bread I didn't like). When the bill came, there was a built-in 15% tip. While we customarily leave a 15% tip, this strong-arming style (although practiced in some restaurants for groups of 6 or more) came across as cras and manipulative. We objected and after a brief argument, the waiter voided the mandatory tip. We still left a tip but there's not much there for us to go back.
