Visit to the Monastery of the Transfiguration
(Jan 30, 2013) The monastery is a pyramid-like structure designed by the late National Artist for Architecture Leandro Locsin. It's run by the Benedictine Monks who support themselves thru their coffee cultivation. The Monks' Blend Coffee is the fruit of that labour. My lasting impression of the place is not so much about the structure but about the monks who call it home....more »»

Exploring Malaybalay, Bukidnon
(Jan 23-30, 2013) Malaybalay is a quaint town in the highlands of Bukidnon, Mindanao. With its 500m elevation, climate is cool and the air, crisp. It has a university flavor with the Bukidnon State University located in the main drag of town. Even with internet, it has its own rhythm, its own pace that can care less to what's happening outside its borders. Perhaps that's a good thing...more »»

Going Global wealth_building
Going Global
(Jan 26, 2013) The glaring fact is, the Philippines is NOT web-centric. It's very hard to make money on the internet if you're dealing with the present-day cultural stumbling blocks. To make money here in the Philippines, I have to work 3x as hard to make a third of what I can possibly make outside. From a logical standpoint, it never made sense.....more »»

Goodbye Davao traveling
Goodbye Davao
(Jan 23, 2013) I stayed as long as I possibly could in Davao hoping that all my efforts would somehow pay off. But at the end of the day, the promise of Davao and all its potential remained exactly that....an unrealized potential despite my due diligence. I can't help but feel defeated. In my birds-and-the-bees parlance, Davao is that unfathomable lady you can't put a finger on. She's beyond my comprehension.....more »»

Davao City's Peace and Order
(Jan 21, 2013) Now that I'm spending more time in Davao, hearing stories from here and there, I begin to see a broader picture of the city - more specifically, about the legacy of its controversial former mayor, Rodrigo Duterte. A few years ago, people would hesitate to say something unfavorable about him - I sensed fear in them. Now, there is a big difference...more »»

Holiday Spa Yoga, Davao City yoga
Holiday Spa Yoga, Davao City
(Jan 20, 2013) I got a phone call in Davao that opened doors for me to teach yoga at the city's finest gym/spa - Holiday Spa. I would be replacing teacher Abbie who is Manila-bound for greener pasture. It seems like a Flow for me - something I cannot ignore despite my hesitation. She is leaving the studio with no immediate replacement, and I show up in Davao - what are the odds?....more »»

Free Yoga at People's Park
(Jan 12, 2013) Whenever I'm in a new place, I give back to the community by teaching free yoga. I've done this in Baguio, Quezon City, Gen San, Dumaguete and I'd love to do this in Davao City. Usually, the only hindrance to yoga is finding a suitable place. But here in Davao, there's People's Park.....more »»

Distributing Relief Goods to Victims of Typhoon Pablo - Compostela Valley, Davao Oriental
(Jan 1, 2013) The new year kicked-off with a trip to Compostela Valley in Davao Oriental to help distribute 100 bags of relief goods to victims of Typhoon Pablo. The tour to neighboring towns of Gabi, Compostela and Nabunturan offered a glmpse of the horror that took place as logs carried by flood waters still remain embedded in rice fields, people continue to live in tents and building structures lay in its skeletal remains...more »»
