May 30 Sunday TJ's Competition TJ is probably one of the country's best judo players but I haven't seen him compete - until today. The venue was in San Juan. The streets were narrow and the place hard to find. Several schools were competing that day. As always, the have-not schools would gladly beat up the players from the elite schools like Ateneo and La Salle...if they can. TJ is from Ateneo but he remains untouchable. On the first match, he nailed the opponent in 16 seconds flat with a clean Ipon throw. The second match finished within a minute. It would seem that TJ was served appetizers only and not a full meal. A toothpick was not required. This win is a good esteem booster for his upcoming submission wrestling fight slated for August. Later, Tricia, the team manager, who was celebrating her birthday, treated the team for dinner at North Park in Greenhills.ARCHIVE 2025:
