May 24 Monday Boracay - day 1 Ali drove us to the airport for our 1 hour flight to Catiklan. We later boarded a tricycle to the boat that ferried us to the island of Boracay. It has been 15 years since I last been there. The place has improved significantly - more bars, restaurants, boutiques and vendors. I would say it became commercialized but in a good way since people looking for more comfort could avail of it. If anyone wanted solitude, there was still plenty of areas in the island and the nearby islands for it. Gold was generous enough to let us use their resort, Club 10, for free. It's a gorgeous spread by the beach with 10 units. We lounged by the beach, took walks, went online (internet was painfully slow) and had a pizza/pasta dinner at Aria, an Italian restaurant. We later moved to Bom Bom, a bar with live reggae and later moved again to Cocomangas for some dancing and more drinks. I met a few people from Bacolod, like the Paul and his family.
