October 21, 2002 Monday Getting the cat After French class I accompanied a classmate to pick up a fostered cat from a lady running a cat-adoption organization - Melanie. She seems to be devoted and dedicated to the plight of cats. I learned quite a bit in my short conversation with her. Cats, I learned, liter about 3 times per year at about 8 kittens per liter. That means 1 loose single adult female cat can have 24 kittens per year - that's a lot. Fortunately, there are caring volunteers out there who commit their time and effort in providing foster homes for these stray cats.
