Training Wheels

Since my 10 year old has a new bike, what to do with her old bike? No problem. It simply means it's time to upgrade my 4 year old's tricycle into a real 2-wheeled bike (with training wheels)! Her enthusiasm of moving up the ladder from baby bike to big-girl bike was equalled only by my 10 year old's ecstatic exuberance over having a high-performance hardtail mountain bike.

It's interesting to see how my fork upgrade (from Manitou SXe to Rock Shox Dukes SL) has resulted in a new mtb bike for my older daughter and a bike upgrade for my 4 year old. Everybody's happy!

Social Etiquette

As a token of thanks for favors done, I invite a family for dinner at my place. They accept the night before and confirm on the dinner day itself. Of course I set out to buy and prepare stuff to make the whole evening pleasant for them.

20 minutes before the scheduled arrival I get a phone call saying they can't make it because "they're tired". If they were just part of a long list of guests, their absence may not be that crucial...but if they are the only guests, that changes things a wee bit. Oh well, at least I'm well stocked for the next few days.
