December 8, 2002 Sunday
While I have the rental car, might as well go to Costco and see what's interesting. The chocolate goodies are always tempting. At the same time, better do my rounds in Scarborough to hook up with friends before the holidays pass us by - Emily, my Holy Man and Danny. Sushi with Emily Moments spent with Emily are always cause for celebration. Like my Holy Man, Terry Gallagher, she has this uncanny ability to bring out the good in me. We hooked up for sushi at this Japanese restaurant close to her place. Having spent 6 months in Japan over the last year, she's definitely partial to things Japanese. And since her Japanese is far superior to mine, she did the ordering...sushi, udon, tempura and yes, wasabi...make that lots of wasabi - nothing like a wasabi-rush on a cold winter noon. I surprised her with goodies I enjoyed making for her over the last few days: homemade Cabernet Sauvignon with her personalized Red Trinity label, extra labels and blowup image of our picture with Genevieve. The rest of the conversation revealed layered dimensions to an already interesting person who's well ahead of her years. It was a well-paced leisurely lunch. By the time we were done, we were the only customer left. Danny, my Holy Man Unfortunately, Danny was still working and my Holy Man was not around. Emily had to be back at her place. What to do? I was already in the area, so I passed by Scarboro Missions to drop off my yuletide gift to Fr. Terry - wine with a personalized Rebel Priest label, from a James Dean Rebel Without a Cause poster. I hope he likes it...better yet, I hope we can hook up during the holidays. Dinner that Never Was I had tentative plans to have dinner with a new acquaintance whose looming friendship I regard with fondness. It didn't happen. Oh well, I guess a guy can't have too much of a good thing. Alone again...naturally.
