September Edition

Dirtbags

Just when you think you have to have the coolest in mountain bike gear, comes a rag-tag bunch of mountain bikers who remind you of what mountain biking started out to be - a bunch of outdoor loving people biking the trails for the sheer fun of it...oblivious to the latest and greatest clothing that most of us crave to a point of obsession. I take a sigh of relief in introducing you to...the dirtbags.
IceBike
Last year's winter biking for me was plagued by near-frostbite - hands and toes. Luckily, I was biking my commute trail from home (Yonge/Finch) to my downtown work at Chapters. Along the way are a good number of apartment buildings where I can always take refuge and stick my hand inside the heat vent. Things would have been a lot easier had I known this cool (no pun intended) site on winter biking...IceBike. It's got all the advise and tips on braving sub-zero temperatures on 2 wheels...from techniques to clothing.

Sponsorship
Yeah...don't we all wish. The swag, the limelight, the bragging rights, getting paid to do what you'd do for free anyway? Hey, let's not forget the groupies...groupies? Okay, that's probably a stretch. Many apply, few are chosen. What gives? Duane Knickull of Gearhead.com takes us along the sponsorship ride.
