Goodbye Subic
Warm Tummy Feeling As I boarded the bus out of Subic, I had this warm comforting feeling in my tummy about the last 4 days. I could have stayed longer with an extended invite by Bianca to even house-sit when she's gone, but I had to leave.
Subic Redefined Bianca redefined Subic for me. I thought I'd just pass by, say hello, have a few drinks and eats, and be gone. But I stayed longer than I thought I would. With just a few days' stay, I got chock-full-of-nuts - Ocean Adventure behind-the-scenes tour, skin diving for giant clams, yoga with a fellow 'apostle' Carlo, surfing at the secret beach, scuba diving at 2 newly discovered dive spots teeming with lobsters!
Fab People More importantly, I met some great people whom I hope to be crossing paths again. There's JJ Montelibano, who, with his hi-tech gadgetry and love for surfing redefines the work-hard-play-hard ethos. There's the dynamic couple, Corey Wills and Mona Lisa Neuboeck. Corey is probably the surfer I've met who've come closest to transcending the waves into Zen and Flow. With his passion for yoga as well, I'm curious what's it like to attend one his sessions. Gregg Homan and Gianne Montelibano likewise take the cake for being a dynamic duo. Scuba diving would have been off the checklist if not for them. I also had a lot of fun in my many conversations with Bianca's Dad. It's not everyday I meet someone well-versed in history and world events that helped shape what we see today.
Old Friendships How could my Subic stay be complete without seeing Dunia de los Reyes and Carlo Magno? I'm sure Carlo's paths and mine will cross again, hopefully, in the company of the other 'apostles'. To the extend I had a regret, it was in not being there for another day to participate in Dunia's yoga. That one has proven to be elusive. But I'm sure that's what the next time is for.
Bianca Espinos Of course, all these would not have happened had it not been for my gracious hostess, Bianca Espinos. I don't know what other behind-the-scene adjustments and arrangements she had to bother herself with to make my stay as pleasant and as memorable as it was. Thank you Bianca. I hope to return the hospitality and favor when you visit Dumaguete. It will taka a few days into my backpacking until I ween the lingering thoughts I have of Subic. Again, many many thanks to everyone!
Next stop? Baguio!
