Riding Kiltepan with the UP Mountaineers
The Usual Suspects This is the first time members of the UP Mountaineers from Diliman have gone up Sagada since I moved up here - these are the peeps I hung out with at the campus and done mountain climbs with:
Daddy-O,
Kram,
Danny. In addition,
Rock Drillon and his son,
Luigi, joined the fray. Of course they brought the most essential Sagada gear - mountain bikes.
Hard-Ass Riding Actually, they've been doing some pretty kick-ass riding before they arrived Sagada. Starting from Banaue, they hammered their way across the mountains to Bontoc and finally, on the 2nd day, they reached Sagada. How do I extend hospitality Sagada-style? Take them riding on the sweetest single-tracks - the Kiltepan trails. How was the ride? The pictures say it all.
Ending Thoughts I love riding Kiltepan and I love hanging out with my beloved UP Mountaineers. Getting saddle-time at Kiltepan with these guys to cap-off the year is simply the best way to say 'thank you' to all the blessings and bounty that was 2006. Here's to a very good year!

kram (15 Jan 2007) thanks ulit sa pagtanggap mo ng risk na pahiram mo yung bahay mo samin. i hope naibalik namin ng maayos after kaming umalis. thanks din for hosting us for a great ride! just when i thought that the marlboro country trail is the best sagada could offer, eh di lang pala heard from steve's comment "kiltepan is good for newbie ride (like me) but it will not compromise the craving of good single track of expert riders who will ride along". great short ride! sarap ng disneyland mo! can't wait for bangaan ridge ride!
Dennis Lopez (15 Jan 2007) Thanks again for hosting our first few days. Too bad I was not able to ride with you since I left before you arrived in Sagada. I did manage to bike the way down to Bontoc. Quite scary and thrilling at the same time. I did not go all out, though. I don't think my bike nor I would leave unscathed. Till next time!
