LANAO DEL NORTE

Lanao del Norte is a coastal province in Northern Mindanao. Lanao's peace and order is sketchy with the on-going conflict between Muslim separatists and the Philippine army. This is perhaps the reason why buses going to Davao from Iligan will not go further south into the conflict zone, but instead, go east to Cagayan de Oro and then head south to Davao. Lanao is best represented by its city, Iligan City. Iligan however, is independently governed from the province and remains safe.
