lucid thoughts

September 26, 2002 Thursday

Morning: 30 minutes of cardio (bike and rope skipping) and abs using the leg machine. Yeah, it's kinda odd using an inner/outer thigh machine for abs but it seems to be the best isometric exercise for abs. I discovered this accidentally when inadvertently I contracted my abs while doing an inner thigh routine. This single step caused my "6 pack" and the obliques to lock up in isolation and even pop-up with intensity. It felt like having an abdominal shield of armor.

Afternoon: Power Yoga. The use of a yoga mat has tremendously contributed to a more intense workout. Confidence is high (specially when doing the "Downward Dog") that there's traction, so I can really push the stretch without the fear of slipping.

I seem to enjoy too much the relaxation following the strenuous stretching and balancing exercises. I fall into a light sleep and wake up only when I hear the whole class chanting the "OM" in unison. Waking up from it is like waking up to whole new day.
