Wine Labels

The whole day was practically spent with my kids just lounging, playing and eating.

I thought I'd say "thanks" to Karen and Doug for the free non-expensed lunch they gave out to the content team by giving them my wine with a personalized label. Well, there's Karen who took us to the sheik Milestones to thank "us" for the hard work we'd been putting in. I think it's more for the patience and frustration the team is under due to the less-than-perfect implementation of "Code Overhaul". At any rate, I feel more of a freeloader since I just got back from my leave. I really wasn't there when the shit hit the fan. I particularly like this label. I took the inspiration from the Ajilon website to add a funky vibrant feel to it.

Then there's Doug who took us to Moxie's, an equally trendy and pricey restaurant a few blocks away from work. Regretably, I have a lot to do with this unplanned lunch thing. Doug sends out an email to the team with the subject "Lunch". I'm thinking: Nice, somebody's buying lunch...maybe pizza. He then says in the email that it's best for the team to take their lunch at 12:30 since the servers will be down. It wasn't free lunch as I thought. To rib him about it, I replied to him (actually replied to "all"),"The subject was 'Lunch'...and I thought it (lunch) was on you (sigh!)". Apparently, everyone in the team thought so too. I guess that put him on the spot so he decided to take us out. Now I felt really uncomfortable. This guy can't expense this and he's gonna be in for at least $200...all because I couldn't keep my mouth shut. So, this " I'm Wild About Doug" label says "Thanks Big Guy, you didn't have to".

Food Fest in Church

Mom took me and the kids to her Filipino community dinner. I can categorically say that any and all Filipino gathering is characterized by the abundance of food. It takes center stage and not having enough overflow is to lose face. This event is certainly no exception.

Sonny Barger's new book

Chapters was just a short walk. I browsed another book by legendary Hell's Angels' biker boss, Sonny Barger. He recently released the Hell's Angels book and now, he penned a new one, Ridin' High Livin' Free, about interesting individual stories about memorable events about biker characters he's known or dealt with. I can imagine any story worth telling about biker lore is in here.

Despite (or maybe because of) the outlaw biker lifestyle of violence, sex and drugs, there seems to be an inate human underpinning about all this that continues to attract continued interest.
