Giant Bike

At Durham Durango, I chatted with some Dads who were racing with their kids. I thought that was pure bonding. I'm not going to have less than that. Further, Mark Ciana who contributed his Paul's Dirty Enduro story, talked about doing some fun ride with his son. That was the last straw. With a spare Manitou SX-e fork that's being worked on at Sporting Life and a 6061 aluminum Titec spare handlebar, I thought I'd get my 10-year old daughter a female-specific full-size (26" wheels) rigid mountain bike with fairly decent components and upgrade the fork and handlebar.

CyclePath (5330 Yonge St.) with store manager Darryl had what I was looking for - a Giant bike (model: Rock), size 14 with upgraded Alivio parts. And being end of season, I got a good deal. Darryl was kind enough to give me a good discount on upgrades - Oassis seat, Alivio derailleurs and free installation of the Manitou fork (when it's ready from Sporting Life) and handlebar.

My daughter was ecstatic! Yes, by next year, I'll be racing side by side with her. Maybe she'll even leave in the dust.
