Philippine Connection - July 27, 2002 Saturday

Pravda, Flute and Bistro

TJ and Gold's crew ( Jay and girlfriend Ling, Ton and Sofia) took me along a "coño" bar in Makati, "Pravda". I have no doubt in my mind that this night was arranged because TJ, to my surprise, told his crew a passing comment I made earlier that the most attractive women I've seen so far were the P30,000/night tricksters from the famed (and very expensive) meat market, "Lexus Club". Like any other upscale restaurant/bar, Pravda sports a snobbish feel, caters to the economically privileged crowd and yes, more pricey drinks and food. The bar promised possibilities especially after midnight. But nothing much was happening that night. The crew looked tired...me too.

We left to head out to a bar tucked discreetly in the business district - "Flute". It's a frequent hangout by an Ateneo law fraternity that gained notoriety with the fatal hazing of a neophyte. The place was packed.

We ended up in "Bistro", a more laid-back pub playing live music. Paul Zialcita was playing percussion. "Buy 1 Take 1" on drinks was a nice touch compared to the P90/beer at Pravda. We stayed awhile and chilled.

I have to give it to TJ and his friends for making me part of their scene. I was adopted as part of their own...not outside looking in. That was the real clincher.
