Even after visiting Wat Bang Kung Temple, we still had time on our hands. This time, someone saw a cat cafe nearby from Google Map. Cat cafe? We checked it out. Turns out, it's a cat hobbyist's den. He had lots of exotic cats. Within the compound was a trendy proper cafe - themed in cat, of course! The cafe was a pleasant surprise. It was comfortable, chic, hipsterish with good coffee to serve. This cafe makes for a pleasurable stop en-route to Amphawa Floating Market in time for the night river cruise.

Amphawa Floating Market
After roaming around, we finally arrived. There was still a good amount of sunlight so we rummaged around the area. Like Damnoen Floating Market, it is colorful, busy and animated - lots of food, lots of souvenir shops and lots of promenading to be done. Crossing from one side to the other side of the river is easy with several foot bridges - that also offer a nice panoramic view of the river system and the passing boats.

Night River Cruise
At B60/pax for a one-hour cruise including firefly watching, it was great value and a relaxing reprieve from a full day of walking around. The river was calm and made for a comfortable ride. A few times, the boatman revved the engine on full throttle - nice! We passed by imposing monoliths, posh residential homes, riverside cafes and restos and went under several bridges. Wish list - that they place a silencer on the muffler so passengers can make the most from the stillness of the night.

High Tide
At first, I thought it was only the other side affected by the high tide as water was already carpeting the walking paths. But soon after, both sides were under water. We all had to take our footwear off and walk barefoot on the wooden planks. It was all good and part of the fun.

Ending Thoughts
This finally wraps a day choc-full-of-market activities with wonderful people to be with. Wow! It was still a hundred kilometers to Bangkok, return the rental car before we could all head back to our homes. What a weekend.

Thank you Chai for all that jazz! Thank you Mar, Mayet and Christina for making it a very colorful day!
