I'm wearing the ideal pumpboat gear - pinhole glasses to minimize the sun and construction ear muffs to deaden the loud boat engine (it would be positive evolution when pumpboats do not remove mufflers on their engines. I heard another boatman say the reason they cut-off the muffler is because it reduces engine performance. I'm thinking, even if that is true and let's even say a muffler reduces engine performance by 5%,
so what? The comfort and convenience of the guests goes a longer way than the presumed 5% power loss). Obviously, I have a beef about needless loud boat motors.
