Abs Showdown 2010 Abs Showdown 2010

Deeply Proceeds from this showdown benefit "Deeply" (Shianne Tupas). She's a member of the Survivor Philippines dot Commers who suffered a leg injury requiring metal platings on her left leg. The dotcom community has been extremely supportive of us Survivor Castaways during and after the first season of Survivor Philippines. I hope we can support her by way of this showdown...or your donations! Monies collected will be posted on this page (for full transparency). To Get In, Submit the following. Showdown gets started when we have 8 participants:

  • short bio introducing yourself - include city and country. Who you are, why you're joining, objective, fitness background, bla-bla.
  • a profile picture (thumbnail) and full shot (action shot). No need yet for abs pictures until showdown starts.
  • email me your bio and profile pix: webmaster@thelonerider.com
  • Outside the Philippines: CAN$50 admission fee. Within the Philippines: P500.

Rules

  • weekly abs pictures should be in by Sunday midnight, however, a grace period of 2 days is given (buy grayed). Very...very last submission is Tuesday midnight...NO EXCEPTION (Wednesday 12:01 am is late and won't be posted.)
  • dates/days are Philippine time based on this site: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/city.html?n=145
  • after 3 'no shows' (either you didn't submit anything or submitted after a Tue), you're disqualified and no further posting will be done
  • pictures submitted should be around 1000 pixels wide
  • abs pictures should be contracted (abs muscles flexed) under (ideally) the same lighting conditions
  • showdown starts when we have a min of 8 participants

Poll Voting
Poll voting will be done for the MOST IMPROVED...so it's not about the next guy, but you against your old self. Polling happens for a month afterwhich a winner is announced.

Prize (because this is a benefit for Deeply, winner will not be reimbursed the registration fee)

  • Look in the mirror...that's your prize!
  • maybe...a remote maybe, I can get a sponsor to provide gear. I'm still working on it.

I'll be joining the weekly submission (it's my way of keeping fit), but because I'm the moderator, I won't join in the poll voting. I don't really care about "winning"...I just want good abs!.

    Abs Tips:
  • you can't do it just by doing mega-crunches. you need to diet and do lots of cardio.
  • to measure your progress, you can do a fixed number of abdominal reps/week and increase the number every week. by the end of the program, you should be able to do 600 reps/session - a combination of side-bends, crunches, leg-raises, sit-ups, etc.
  • ideally, you should only use body weight 'coz you want your waist slim and lean...not wide and bulky
  • high rep is ideal until you feel the burn...and then continue until you feel fire!
  • best to take the photo shot with a uni-directional yellow light pointing down...it highlights shadows
